School Improvement Plan

OBJECTIVE(S) : To increase the school index scores by 12 points in each subject area: English Language Arts  - from 66.0 to 78.0; Math – from 59.6 to 71.6; Science – from 56.0 to 68.0; and Social Studies – from 71.6 to 83.6

Strategies

The Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) will be used by teachers to improve instruction.

A Title I School Improvement Facilitator (Ms. Beatrice Williams) will provide teachers with training on understanding the needs of Title I/at-risk students.

Students will be provided with a math intervention class.

Students will participate in the READ 180 reading intervention program.

At-risk students will be offered After-School Tutoring Sessions in ELA, math, science, and social studies.

MTS Remedial Software will be used in by ninth graders math and ELA instruction leading to improved student performance.

Parents will be provided with training sessions aimed at improving their understanding of the content grade level expectations in each of the core areas, high school graduation requirements, strategies to improve their child’s high school experience, etc.
