Salutations,
James Baldwin once stated, "Neither love nor terror makes one blind: indifference makes one blind." In regards to Ferriday High School, indifference links to a multitude of facets. However, the most significant one to me is literacy! How can students strive to gain knowledge if I, as their teacher, am indifferent to literacy and everything that falls beneath it? I truly love reading, and I want to inspire that same love and curiosity in the students at FHS! Improving students' attitudes towards reading is crucial for fostering a passion for learning and expanding their knowledge for a holistic view of the vastly approaching world. Encouraging students to strive for success in reading and providing them with engaging and relatable literature will not only improve their literacy skills but also ignite a passion for learning. Starting today, try picking up a book that interests you and see what realm of possibilities it can unlock in your mind. Let's try to learn how to enjoy reading again and regain our passion!
